ICON Development Solutions is proud to announce the release of NONMEM7™, the Software that has facilitated the analysis of data for pharmaceutical research and development for the last 30 years; the Gold Standard for population Pharmacokinetic / Pharmacodynamic analysis.
NONMEM® was originally developed during the 1970’s by Stuart Beal and Lewis Sheiner of the University of California San Francisco. Almost 40 years later, ICON Development Solutions has incorporated all the original statistical methods of NONMEM® that have been developed throughout the past decades, into NONMEM7™. Today, PK/PD modelers can use these methods without having to deal with the more complicated interface of other software. NONMEM7™ is the only program that offers all of these methods under one ‘roof’: FO; FOCE; ITS; Importance Sampling EM; SAEM; MCMC Bayesian Analysis. “Once again NONMEM® is offering scientists a composite analysis solution” (Dr. R. Bauer, PhD).
Some of the general improvements that you will see in NONMEM7™ are: Improved incidence of completion when using the multiple problem feature; three stage hierarchical Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods; improved efficiency and incidence of success in problems using the classical NONMEM® method and many more that you will get to experience with your new software.
NONMEM7™ also provides a comprehensive tool-kit in an easier to use package to facilitate population-based data analyses, and improves the rate of success of analyzing complex PK / PD models.
The Software:
The NONMEM computer program is written and distributed in
ANSI FORTRAN 77 code and, therefore, can be used with any
hardware and operating system incorporating a FORTRAN 77 compiler
adhering to the ANSI standard. Since a NONMEM run can take
considerable CPU time, perhaps many hours, depending on the
speed of the computer and the size of the problem, it is advisable
to use a fast machine. In addition to fast time-shared machines,
32-bit PC's are commonly used, as are RISC machines of different
sorts.
NONMEM is an evolving program, reflecting
tested methodological and programming improvements. The software
consists of three parts: (i) NONMEM itself, the basic and
very general nonlinear regression program, (ii) PREDPP, a
very powerful package of subroutines handling population PK
data, which can free the user from coding any kinetic type
equations him/herself, while simultaneously allowing complicated
patient-type data to be easily used, and (iii) NM-TRAN, a
preprocessor allowing control and other needed inputs to be
specified in a user-friendly manner. Both NONMEM and NM-TRAN
are batch type programs.
Licensing:
The NONMEM program is available on CD ROM in ASCII
format, or on CD ROM with DOS or UNIX-tar
format, which together with the documentation and all updates
and additions to the program and documentation, will be delivered
for a license royalty fee to be paid annually. This fee is
subject to change from year to year, and at each anniversary
the licensee at its option may choose not to renew the license.
